Create Side-Hustle Income by Teaching What You Already Know

What if you were given the opportunity to get paid for sharing with other people information you already?

Now, perhaps unlike at any other time in history, if you possess knowledge that other people would be willing to pay for, you can start making money, with little or no startup costs.

Teaching online grants you the freedom to still work a day job yet generate side-hustle income. In fact, today, it’s a real possibility to even make just as much money while you’re asleep as when you’re awake, thanks to the power of the Internet.

You have the opportunity to teach and share what you’re most passionate about to large audiences. Would you like to share what you love and be paid for doing so? One vehicle for doing so is Udemy.com, which describes itself as an “online learning marketplace” with a mission “to help anyone learn anything.”

“The world is changing so quickly and gotten more complex, especially because of technology that people need to constantly learn new things,” Udemy’s CEO, Dennis Yang tells me in a recent interview.

“There’s been a cultural shift towards sharing and just like Netflix, people want to be able control their own media,” Yang adds. “Because of mobile technology, people want access to learning when they want it and where they want it.”

A new instructor, he says “has the ability to impact many students’ lives and students have access to experts, right at their fingertips,” he says.

Before you cast your hat in the online teaching ring, do these three things first:

1. Claim a topic.

What area do you find fascinating? In everyday conversation, what do you talk about the most? This could be an indication of what you could teach others.

What questions are people always asking you to help them with? If individuals are always approaching you for advice, perhaps within that there’s something you can teach.

What genre of books do you tend to read? Answering this might point to a subject area you might teach.

2. Solve a problem.

To teach what you already know — or what you are willing to learn — you require students. And to find them, you must know their needs and how to best serve them.

Asking questions is the best way to get to familiarize yourself with the needs of prospective students.

You might ask, for example, some of these questions:

What are three areas in which you’re having problems at work or in life?

What are three things you really want to accomplish this year?

What frustrates you the most about your job?

What have you done to try to improve your situation? What has worked the best (or the least)?

3. Define an objective.

Remember, you want to deliver only high-quality information. To so, you must know your audience and cater to their needs. A good question to ask yourself is “Who are the people who will participate in my course and what will they be hoping to learn?”

Focus on students at a specific skill level: beginners, intermediate or advanced learners. This will not only help you target the right audience but will also ensure that your course offers the type of information that your students are seeking.

Nick Walter, who made $60,000 in 30 days by promoting his Udemy.com class on Kickstarter.com, has shared with me details of his teaching experiences. He didn’t even have a regular job at the time. That just goes to show you the power of teaching what you know.

How much extra money would you like to make next year?

Do you have that number in your head? Consider how easy it can be earn extra cash just by teaching what you already know.

This year, I’m launching my ebook, 21 Ways To Achieve Wealth & Success Plus 21-Day Resource Book, that will be turned into a Udemy course later this year.

By the end of this year, you’ll end up somewhere. Do you want to end up somewhere well-designed or undesigned?

The choice is yours.

How To Start An Internet Business In 3 Easy Steps (And What Holds You Back)

It’s not quite as easy as the title makes it sound, but bear with me, this article will explain the three steps that are the foundation of every Internet business, why so many people go wrong and give you some realizations that might just be the key to take your Internet business to the next level…

I’ve been studying resources lately designed to teach Internet business, but not just introductory materials, content that goes beyond beginners and is intended to take you to making making millions online.

In my case I’m interested in advanced topics that I can apply to what I do and fill my current knowledge gaps to take the next step forwards. While hunting for those elusive gold nugget ideas I invariably scan the introductory materials and learn with interest how this particular person or organization cover the basics – how they suggest you get traffic and make sales.

My studies have led me to the conclusion that Internet business is actually quite easy. Explained in simple terms (which I will do in a moment), the structure of a successful online enterprise is comprised of a few components, that when linked together can deliver hundreds, thousands and even millions of dollars in online profits.

Easy As 1-2-3

While we all have different ways of presenting what we do and the tiny details of getting a result vary, most Internet marketing experts teach the same few principles, which are in fact no different from what direct marketers have been doing and teaching for decades.

This 3-step approach were originally published in an article by Yaro Starak on Entrepreneurs-journey

It goes something like this…

Step 1: Traffic

All online business models rely on traffic of some shape or form, and it’s here where I’m always curious to find what others do to drive attention to their business, as I’m sure you are too. In almost all cases a combination of one, two or all three of the following techniques are the main traffic drivers that fuel the business.

Pay Per Click: Buying traffic from Google’s AdWords is recommended as the quickest, but least forgiving traffic tool. Get this right and you get thousands of visitors instantly at a cost lower than the income they return. Get this wrong and you lose money. It’s a harsh learning curve, but for the winners the pay-off is significant.

Search Engine Optimization: Again Google is a significant component of this traffic source, delivering thousands of visitors to websites that rank well. I was tempted to call this traffic method “content marketing” but let’s keep this as simple as possible. For those who are diligent and learn how to leverage content, search engines offer a steady stream of free traffic – it can just take a while to get it flowing.

Affiliates: Affiliate marketing is the most underutilized traffic source for many Internet businesses and that’s likely because it takes more than mechanical mechanisms to make it work. Relationships are required, but when you get the elements right presenting a winning offer to affiliates results is a huge traffic windfall for you. Affiliate traffic is usually quality traffic, thus has the highest conversion rate and best of all – it only costs you money when you make money, so it’s a low-risk investment.

Beyond these three core traffic techniques there are many other methods that can be used, but if you look under the hood of most Internet businesses you will find that one or two or all three techniques above account for the big chunk of converting traffic.

What Is Yaro’s Best Source of Traffic?

In case you are wondering, my best source of traffic is affiliates followed by search engines. For most blogs search engines will account for the largest chunk and most dependable source of traffic, since good blogs are content driven and search engines love content.

Step 2: Make A Sale

Once traffic is flowing, the next condition required for a profitable business is to make that first sale. A targeted front end offer is the usual suggestion, in most cases a sub-$50 priced information product, although a physical product can work too (many late night TV infomercials use a loss-making front end offer of a physical product that is used to identify and open communication with customers).

The purpose of the front end product is to generate a customer. Profit does not come from sales of the front end product in most cases (it’s hard to get rich off a $27 ebook), rather it is raising the per customer value that results in the big gains (more on this at step 3).

The front end product is important because it opens the door to a potentially long term relationship, which when done right, will result in benefits for the company and the customer. The first sale also creates the window of opportunity for step 3 – upsells and back-end offers.

Step 3: Sell More With A Bigger Margin

The core concept of step 3 is that it is always easier to convince someone who is the process of buying or who has bought previously, to purchase more.

The front end offer at step 2 creates the buying condition and then at step 3, upsells, downsells and cross-sells of digital items, continuity products, coaching, consulting, physical products, seminars, conferences and anything you can come up with that is relevant and valuable to your customers, is where the profit comes from.

While not every customer will take advantage of back-end offers you make, the strategy relies only on small segments of your customers buying your upsells and back-end offers. The margins at this point however are significant, so one back-end sale can result in as much profit as 10, 100 or even 1,000 front end orders.

As I talk about in the Conversion Blogging Video and break down in some depth in the Sales Funnel 4-Part Article Series, the idea here is to filter down to a very small group of people, a subset of all the traffic you generate, who buy everything you offer (or at least something with a high profit margin). It’s these people who benefit the most from your business, but it takes the above three step process to attract and filter down to them.

When you get this process set-up, you can determine how much each customer to your site is worth. You know how much traffic you get, you know how many of them buy your front end offer depending on what source of traffic they come from and you know how many of them buy back-end products and upsells. From there you can calculate how much each customer is worth, on average, to your business.

Do You Know Your Customer Value?

Do You Know Your Customer Value?

Rich Schefren hammers home the concept of Customer Value in his Business Growth System. He really needed to get this principle right because long before he was an Internet business guru, he had physical real world businesses (an hypnosis company and a boutique fashion store in Manhattan, New York).

When you run real world stores your costs are so high that you have to get your numbers right. If you don’t, you lose money – lots of it. In the Internet world things are more forgiving because sunk costs are so much lower, however that doesn’t mean customer value is any less important.

Internet business owners don’t suffer the consequences of not focusing on the key customer metric, instead we can flounder around, test and fail and walk away perhaps bitter and frustrated, but it doesn’t cost us much more than our time. If you were investing ten or twenty or even hundreds of thousands into your business, you would know your numbers from the start.

Raising Customer Value

If you knew, despite selling a $27 front end ebook, that thanks to a strategically timed and optimized followup process, that each customer you convert is eventually worth $300 to your business, could you use that to your advantage?

Of course you could!

You could spend more on pay per click advertising. You could hire search engine and content development professionals. You can pay more money to affiliates. All these things drive more people into your business, result in a huge strategic advantage over your competitors and fuel massive profit growth.

If you have been keeping up with recent launches in the Internet marketing space, nearly all the leading players have been implementing this process recently, and that’s no coincidence. These guys (and a handful of girls) are testing, sharing results and then replicating the process and of course – promoting each other’s launches each time they have something new.

As I outlined above in the three steps, it’s not a difficult concept to grasp once you spend some time studying Internet marketing (and perhaps experiencing the process as a customer of another marketer). However so many things can hinder the outcome that very few get far enough along to realize the million dollar result.

If It Is So Easy – Why Isn’t Everyone Doing It?

The problems lie in the details. While the explanation I provided in this article may present a process that is conceptually easy enough to understand once you get used to the basics of Internet marketing, pulling it off is difficult.

Most fail at step one – traffic. Despite best intentions and some initial hard work, people are sporadic workers at best, and without some kind of immediate gratification, give up long before results come.

Worse still, many begin an Internet business with existing hindrances that plague their ability to perform – things like mortgages, full time jobs, families to support, ingrained self defeating belief systems, unrealistic expectations, poor work habits, an inability to let go of control or hire help when required, inferiority complexes, low self esteem or all manner of roadblocks can get in the way.

For those who persist long enough minor results come there way, yet after such a long journey and so much effort, they are disappointed and discouraged – they expected to be making better money by now.

Take It To The Next Level

Take it to the next levelHard workers and people with talent often get the traffic part right and might even make some money with a front end offer or selling affiliate products, but they are working at full steam just to maintain that level. The idea of creating more product to sell for upsells and back-ends, creating sales pages, recruiting affiliates and doing even more seems impossible – the current workload is suffocating enough.

I can vouch for this because, while I’m successful to a degree (certainly above average), I am still not realizing a lot of potential – in fact I’d say I’m only realizing 10% of what I could achieve if I took the next step with my own business.

The advantage I have is I don’t see it as impossible to take the next step, nor do I feel that I am suffocating because I’ve built my business based on freedom before money. However, I do face a choice as to where my business is going to go next.

What Tiny Details Hold You Back?

It’s inevitable if I want my business to grow that I will need to make changes. The greatest potential for growth in any business is removing those things that hold it back, that constrain it. This is such a big issue that Rich Schefren decided to focus his entire new report just on constraints (I’ll get you the download link for the report at the end of this article).

As I stated earlier, it’s the details that stop people from succeeding at all points of the 3 step system for a successful Internet business. In my case, I’m held back somewhere around the step 2 and 3 area, although there is certainly potential to do a lot more at step 1 as well.

Here’s a list of the constraints holding me back –

  1. Lack of product to sell: I’ve got a bunch of products that are near complete or merely ideas in my head to be created that I just never get around to implementing. As a result, I don’t have anything close to a fully developed sales funnel with upsells and a back-end.
  2. No sales process for new products: Even with products ready to go, I can’t sell them until I have a sales page up and running with my shopping cart to take payment and deliver the goods. Plus you need autoresponders to keep the marketing system going for each new product and let’s not forget the whole “launch process” for each new product.
  3. Maintenance of current systems: I spend most of my time keeping the status quo going and there’s very little work on new projects. I blog, support my paying students, promote affiliate products and fix things when they break.
  4. I’m traveling: This one is understandable and will change soon enough, but it’s a constraint now because the little details (again with the details!) while traveling suck time too.
  5. I’m holding myself back: Ultimately, as a big picture answer – I need to get a whole lot of stuff done that I cannot realistic do myself – I need the help of other people.

I could break each point above into more minute details, all the tiny things that need to get done that constrain my results, but I think you get my point.

Now, how about you?

Every business owner should be able to sit down and relate a series of constraints that hold them back, based on where they currently are with their business and where they want to go next.

I suggest right now you take a look at what you focus on with your business, what the next step is to achieve your next immediate goal and what’s holding you back from getting it done.

Care to share your constraint?

If you are brave – take a few minutes to leave a comment reply to this article and list your present constraints, where you currently sit in the 3-step Internet business system and what needs to get done next.

You Need Awareness Followed By Action

Thankfully, just be reading this article to this point and reflecting on your own business situation you are getting closer to figuring out what is stopping you from successfully implement the oh-so-easy 3-step Internet business plan.

Here’s a process you can go through next to keep the momentum going –

  1. Become aware of the need for change
  2. Determine what problem has to be solved next
  3. Isolate the first step required to move towards solving the problem
  4. Collect the required resources to take that first step
  5. Execute

Rinse and repeat this to remove every constraint you have and you will be a millionaire. It’s that easy ? .

Need More Help Dealing With Your Constraints?

Rich Schefren has just published his latest report – The Uncertainty Syndrome – which focuses specifically on the idea that constraints are what hold us back from succeeding at business to the level we desire.

If you like the ideas discussed in this article you will love his report. You can grab it here for free –

21 Legit Ways To Make Money Online

Technology’s ever-pervading permeation into every last fiber and morsel of society has caused a dramatic upheaval in the way we live, work and entertain ourselves. Thanks to the disruptive nature of the internet, the rate of change has only increased exponentially in recent years.

Yet, with so much change in the world today, and a nearly-instantaneous access to the globe’s population through mediums such as social media and online search, many people are still left perplexed by how they can utilize the powerful technology inherently available through the internet, to actually make money online.

The truth? It’s not easy making money online today. With so much competition and so many people and headlines vying for our attention, sifting through and finding reputable sources to generate any respectable amount of income through the web has become an ever-increasing challenge.

Often, what happens is that we run into unscrupulous Internet Marketers (IMs) who have less-than altruistic intentions of extracting money from you rather than helping you to make it. However, this isn’t something new. People have been falling for networking marketing, pyramid schemes, and affiliate marketing scams since before the start of the net.

So, where are we supposed to turn to make money the legitimate way online? This isn’t just about generating passive income; this is also about finding ways and means to create an active income through the conveniences afforded to us by the internet that will not only help us with our debt obligations, but also empower us to save, invest and get really rich in the future.

It’s not easy by any means. Anyone that tells you otherwise isn’t being transparent with you. It takes an enormous amount of effort and authority-building before you can really start getting rich through your online income-producing activities. However, there are some basic methods for making a respectable amount of cash in the short term.

Pain Versus Pleasure

Before I talk about some of the methods for making money online, I wanted to address the role of pain versus pleasure. Every decision that we make in life is weighed on a pain-versus-pleasure scale. We will always do more to avoid pain than we will to gain pleasure, plain and simple. However, this is also what holds us back from succeeding in any endeavor.

Let me explain…

Now, making money online should seem like a pleasurable activity. Why wouldn’t we do just about anything to see things through, since it would be a major source of pleasure, right? Wrong. In the beginning, like anything else, we might get really excited about it. We might also set our hopes very high. But that all comes crashing down when we begin to fail.

The problem? In order to make serious amounts of money online, you need to the most amount of work for the least initial return, not the least amount of work for the greatest return. Translation — major amounts of pain. That’s also the problem with how affiliate marketers, network marketers, and IMs attempt to sell you the “dream,” so to speak.

When people buy into the hype, they set their expectations extremely high. All they need to do is send a few emails out, and voila, instant millions overnight. Well, clearly it doesn’t quite work like that. The issue at heart is that we will always do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure in the short term, not in the long term.

That’s why it’s so hard to quit bad habits or do anything else that requires any semblance of struggle. The human mind is hardwired to avoid pain in the short term, not in the long term. It’s part of our survival instinct. However, you can easily overcome this in the long term as long as you set your expectations the right way.

What Are The Best Ways To Make Money Online?

As someone who’s been immersed in a number of online industries for quite some time, I know a thing or two about what it takes to succeed in this arena. However, just like you, I started at ground zero with little knowledge, but a great deal of passion. What I learned along the way were some invaluable lessons from failure that hurt at the time, but helped immensely in the grand scheme of things.

Today, if you’re at all serious about succeeding in any endeavor, whether online or offline, you have to deliver enormous amounts of value. Yes, you have to do the most amount of work for the least initial return. This is especially true online. Why? Because it takes time to build authority and create an audience, two primary ingredients necessary to succeed in the wonderful world of commerce on the web.

Every successful business and person has delivered a tremendous amount of value at the outset. They did the most amount of work, and they inspected every detail meticulously, to ensure that they were doing right by their customers. As long as you keep that in mind, and you don’t look for a quick buck, you’ll succeed in the long term.

  • Find your niche — Figure out what you’re good at or what you want to be good at. You don’t need to be an expert right now, but you do need to decide where you’re going to fit in if you’re at all serious about making serious cash in the long term.
  • Build a blog on a custom domain — Your blog is your virtual home. Without it, you’ve no place to filter all that traffic and people interested in what you have to say. But don’t build a blog on a subdomain like yoursite.wordpress.com, create a blog with a custom domain like www.yoursite.com.
  • Always add value — Adding value over time creates authority, and authority breeds trust, which in turn helps to grow your audience and readership. Without a significant following, you’ll find it hard to gain any traction online. It simply takes time.
  • Create an email list and treat them them right — One of the best ways to make money online is by marketing to an actively-interested group of email subscribers. While most people think that email marketing is dead, that’s far from the truth. This is your greatest potential source of income online. Think of it as your money tree.
  • Don’t sacrifice morals for a quick buck — At the outset, you’ll want to do all sorts of things to make money online, but don’t sacrifice your morals for a quick buck. Not only will you put people off, but you’ll lose Google’s trust. You also shouldn’t concern yourself with things like Adsense or other ads on a blog before you have around 100,000 visitors per day. Yes, per day.

The point? Think about the long-term results of your activities. It will seem frustrating in the beginning. Then again, everything worthwhile is going to be difficult. It will take time. Stick it out and don’t give up. In the meanwhile, here are some of the best and most legitimate ways you can make money online in the short and long term.

#1 — Write And Sell An Ebook

If you have a propensity for writing and you can slay with your prose, consider writing an ebook. While the market has certainly become saturated as of late, books that help teach people about a technical topic still sell extremely well. This is a great source of passive income but does require a large amount of effort at the outset before any money is generated.

You can sell your ebooks through Amazon’s Kindle program or Apple’s iTunes Connect, which gives you access to a large majority of the digital-book reading market and the barriers for entry are incredibly low. You don’t need to invest lots of money to make this happen, but you do need to invest lots of time, not only in writing the ebooks, but in marketing them as well.

#2 — Sell Audiobooks With Audible

I’ve been in the audiobook-selling business for some time now and have over 3 dozen titles to my name. I know a thing or two about audiobooks. And, what I’ve noticed recently is that audiobooks are growing in popularity as their digital-ebook counterparts are becoming less and less popular.

People are turning to audio and visuals when it comes to technical subjects. However, you should consider doing an ebook first and turning it into an audiobook through a resource like Audible’s ACX platform. You can hire a producer either through a royalty share program, so you don’t have to shell out upfront cash, or you can do a pay-per-hour hire as well.

#3 — Create An App

Yes, this is far more technical. Unless you have the right app-development skills, doing this is going to be a significant undertaking. But, apps are also a great source of passive income when done the right way. You can reach a massive audience of smartphone users by building a great app.

However, like anything else truly worthwhile, apps require a significant investment of your time or money upfront. If you don’t have the skills, then you have to hire someone who can assist you in creating a great app. But first you need to come up with an idea that will sell. Do the proper market research and analytics to come up with the right app.

#4 — Use Mechanical Turk

Mechanical Turk is Amazon’s take on micro-jobs. These are small miniscule-jobs that you can do for other people, which they call HITs, or Human Intelligence Tasks. These are super simple tasks that anyone can do. Some examples are listing off some URLs with certain kinds of images for one cent, or recording a few phrases with a microphone for 6 cents.

Yes, they don’t pay much, but if you string together hundreds of well-paying HITs, you can make a bit of money quickly online if you’re in a crunch for cash. Also, it’s important to note that you can also employ people with HITs to help you with whatever micro-tasks you might have.

#5 — Offer Gigs On Fiverr

If you have some professional experience in graphic design, accounting, social media marketing, web development or SEO, for example, you could offer gigs on Fiverr starting at $5 per job. You could perform a valuable service that you could also up-sell to make more money per gig.

Fiverr is one of the biggest providers in the gig economy on the web and you can sell a wide variety of services and products through this medium. Do the research and find out what you can offer. However, keep in mind that like any other money-making task, it takes time to succeed here. And stellar reviews will help you generate more and more income over time.

#6 — Sell Professional Services On Upwork or 99Designs

Upwork and 99Designs are two of the biggest resources for selling just about any professional service under the sun. If you have extensive experience in a field, you might want to consider selling your services through one of these sites. 99Designs only applies to graphic design while Upwork applies to nearly every other professional service.

However, like anything else, the beginning will be difficult. Before you have a significant track record and extensive reviews, sourcing work in one of these highly-competitive platforms will be difficult. Find the most successful people in your niche and try to model your approach and online profile after theirs.

#7 — Build A Blog

One of the most exhaustive endeavors when it comes to making money online is to build a blog. But we all know that building a blog with real readership is difficult. It takes a lot of work. And I’m speaking from experience. However, once you reach a certain point, the progress and momentum sways in your favor and it becomes far easier.

Blogs can easily generate tens of thousands of dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars per month when done right. Yes, that much. But it won’t be easy to get there. However, looking back on it, a year from now you’ll wish you started today. So why wait another moment?

#8 — Email Marketing

Email marketing is at the heart of every successful endeavor on the web. For those serious about making money online, email marketing is certainly where it’s at. But it has to be done the right way. Before you even try to market anything to anyone via an email list, be sure that they’re people that subscribed and opted in directly to you.

When you try to market to people via email out of the blue, you won’t find as much success. But, if those email subscribers are actively and keenly interested in what you have to say, and they signed up directly through your blog or site, your success rates will be much higher.

#9 — Auction Items On Ebay

Ebay is a bellwether. It’s been around since nearly the start of the online boom. But, like any other platform, success can seem fleeting if you don’t know what you’re doing. Selling items on eBay, professionally that is, can be an art form. Getting people interested in your auctions isn’t always easy, especially when there’s hefty competition and low demand for what you’re selling.

Like anything else, you need to do the proper research, but you can make significant amounts of money as an eBay Power Seller. Find the most successful eBay sellers in your niche and model after their success. Find all of their listings and see just how they list the items that they’re selling.

#10 — Rent Your Home On AirBnB

Rent your entire home or just a room on AirBnB. This is a simple and effective way to make money online, especially in the short term. While you won’t get rich doing this, you can generate thousands of dollars per month for the right place. And, if you live in a sought-after vacation destination, then you’re certainly in luck.

Research other listings in your city on AirBnB and see what the going rate is for a place like yours. You could also just rent out a private room as well or even a bed in a shared room. In fact, that’s how AirBnB got its start. However, you might find it hard in the beginning without reviews, but as long as you take really good care of your guests and provide a lot of value, the reviews will eventually come rolling in.

#11 — Sell Photos Online

If you’re at all into photography, and you have a cache of nice photos, you could consider selling them through sites like Shutterstock and iStockPhoto, two of the biggest photo resources online. It doesn’t take too much effort to do this, but it does take creativity and persistence to succeed with it.

You’ll find serious competition when trying to sell photos online, but this is also a great method for generating passive income. If you can license your images or sell them as stock photography, you won’t have to do any additional work to generate income from that sale once the photos have been posted online. Just collect your payments.

#12 — Drive For Uber Or Lyft

If you live in an area where Uber or Lyft operate, why not become a driver? If you’re looking to make some short-term cash, you can definitely rake it in by working for one of these popular car-hire apps. As long as your vehicle fits within the specifications of their program, and you have a clean license, you could do this on the side, especially if you’re in a crunch for cash.

Treat your guests right and offer them perks that other drivers don’t offer, simply because you want to deliver a lot of value. You might not get that much out of it from the outset, but it will set you apart from all the other drivers and your reviews will be indicative of just that.

#13 — Sell Products On Etsy

Etsy is a great resource for those that enjoy making their own products and selling them online. If you’re into hand-crafted items and you have a penchant for creating killer goods and wares that people just have to have, then you might want to consider setting up an Etsy shop and selling through a massive online portal.

Etsy is a great way to go directly to where all the consumers are congregating. While the company will take a small fee to list your products, along with fees to process the transaction itself, it is easier than setting up your own transactional website. Do some research on the top sellers and try to emulate their success.

#14 — Use Shopify To Build Your Own Online Store

Don’t want to sell through Etsy? You could always build your own online store using a platform like Shopify. Shopify makes it easy to build a transactional website without all the hassle, which takes much of the guesswork out of doing what some would consider a highly-complex task.

The company markets their services with being able to start selling online in seconds. Well, it might not work that fast, but you could most certainly get a good transactional website up and running within minutes or hours.

#15 — Build An Amazon FBA Business

If you want to go directly to the world’s largest online retailer, consider setting up a Fulfilled-by-Amazon (FBA) business. Amazon will pick, pack and ship your orders, and you’ll have enormous exposure to a buzzing marketplace where products are selling every second.

Clearly, there’s a lot of demand on Amazon, and if any product is going to sell, it’s going to sell well on Amazon. But the goal here is to source the right products that will easily sell at the world’s largest online retailer. Generally, products between $10 and $50 sell very well here. Just be sure to do the right market research before jumping on this bandwagon.

#16 — Answer Professional Questions

Are you a professional in a field that can help answer questions for people looking for your expertise? Websites like JustAnswer and LivePerson match you up with people looking for answers to technical or professional questions. You can make money online by simply answering these questions and providing the right information to people based on their individualistic circumstances.

Depending on your area of knowledge, you could either make a lot of money or just a little bit by answering questions professionally. Do your due diligence before signing up to any website where you’re providing answers in exchange for money and be sure that it’s a reputable source.

#17 — Create Video Tutorials On YouTube

This is definitely a long-term strategy, and you won’t get rich overnight by doing this, but creating engaging and well-thought-out video tutorials and posting them on sites like YouTube could make you a significant amount of passive income in the long term depending on just how well-received those videos might be.

Find a niche and stick to it. Build a YouTube channel and find something that you can do that will add a whole lot of value to the people that might be interested in that field or niche. However, keep in mind that this will require a significant amount of time and upfront investment before this pays off at all.

#18 — Develop Educational Courses On Udemy

One of my absolute favorite sites for selling educational courses is Udemy. In fact, you can check out the courses that I have for sale on the site here. Udemy is a great place to build out technical courses that will teach people how to do some complicated task or learn some sought-after skill.

In my courses, I teach things like web development, search engine optimization and graphic design, but you can teach just about anything on Udemy. However, there is enormous competition on here, but it’s a great source of passive income if you can create a course that people will love.

#19 — Become A Virtual Assistant

While becoming a virtual assistant won’t pay you enormous amounts of money, if you’re looking to be a digital nomad in a city with a low cost-of-living, this could be something that pays your bills. This will require a significant amount of organization and some technical skills as well to succeed.

As long as you have the basics covered with programs like Word, Excel and PowerPoint, for example, and you’re an effective communicator, able to stick to deadlines, you might find yourself excelling as a virtual assistant.

#20 — Teach Others As A Virtual Tutor

Want to teach others directly? You can become a virtual tutor and engage in one-on-one tutoring sessions or even host Webinars to help people directly with any number of topics. This is terrific for teaching people new languages. If you have a second-language skill, this might be the right option to generate some money quickly and easily.

Of course you could teach a number of things virtually. This could range from technical to non-technical skills. For example, you could use a site like VerbalPlanet to teach a language, or try to source clients directly through social media or other avenues and process their payments through PayPal.

#21 — Write Articles For Other Sites

Last, but certainly not least, is article writing. Depending on your skill level when it comes to writing, you could always find work writing articles for other people. At the outset, this won’t pay you much, especially if you have little in the way of examples or portfolio pieces. But, like anything else, you can build this up over time.

You could also do a number of other things related to writing such as copywriting for descriptions, emails, or other sales-related content. Do your due diligence to find out what the going rates are for writing articles, and even try to find a mentor if you’re serious about making money online through this method.

Making Money on the Internet (Part 1)

I have decided to share this after several years trying so hard to make money online , Coming from an African country , it has really been difficult I must say. My proven online-avenues will guide you to also earn money online easily from home.

There are tons of articles scattered across blogs that teach or attempt to help you to make money online. Some of them are scams; others are just sales pitches to convince you to sign up for some superman product, seminar, webinar, training session or some other way to become an online millionaire. Of course, there are a few out there which are genuinely helping people by pointing them in the right direction and guiding them and there are some that will not allow African countries to sign up to it. Programs like surveys hardly require people coming from countries like Ghana , Nigeria, Kenya etc to be part of it .

There are legitimate ways to make money online. The problem is that the real ways to make money aren’t “get rich quick” schemes Kalen Bruce, mentioned in a post. The real ways to make money online requires some level of expertise from your end and some times some financial commitment.

Here, you’ll find opportunities and practical ways to make money online, legitimately, no matter where you find yourself in the world; America, Kenya, Australia, the UK, Ghana, Canada, South Africa, India, Germany, Nigeria, wherever.

  1. Self  Publishing

If you are good at anything at all (sports, relationships, finance, science-fiction, romance, etc), it’s time to research and write. The internet provides you an opportunity to reach a large market of potential buyers, even beyond your home country and continent. With the Amazon Kindle store, anyone can publish an eBook and make money quickly. The Kindle app is now available on almost any device (laptops, iPads, smartphones and yes, Kindles) so your global market is huge! It also means that there would be no printing cost, thereby lowering your cost to near zero.

List your book for £1.49 – £6.99 and you earn 70% of the sale. Considering Amazon is the ultimate selling machine, that is a fantastic deal. Remember people are looking to spend!

To succeed with an ebook, you need to create value. Non-fiction is known to sell. Sometimes, it can be as simple as researching and compiling information on a major problem (like secrets to selling ebooks) and presenting it in an easy-to-understand format.

Another big tip is to have a great cover designed so it stands out, and once your book is live on the Kindle store it’s really important to get some reviews so it shows up higher in results. Encourage readers to leave an honest review at the end of your book.

Ebooks last forever, literally. Once you invest the time, your product would forever be available for sale, albeit in a relevant format. You will earn income from sale of the ebook for years to come.

  1. Blogging

You may have heard that you could make money blogging. You even tried it and didn’t earn as much money as you expected. There’s no magic formula but there are basics you need to cover if you want to monetize your website. Problogger, Copyblogger, Linda Ikeji, Ghanaweb, Ghbase, Ameyawdebrah are some blogs making good money. The income streams from blogging are many but here a few or the most popular ways of making money blogging.

Advertising: It is definitely the oldest form of making money with a blog. Emergence and dominance of other forms of revenue streams are gradually making advertising the model bringing in the least revenue. You can sell advertising space directly on your site or you can go through intermediaries like Google Adsense or Media.net. You only make enough money from advertising when your site visits hit the thousands on daily basis.

Affiliates: In this model, you basically sell products of other businesses on your site and make a commission whenever someone buys the product through your site. There are many affiliate networks, such as FlexOffers and CJ Affiliate that allow you to promote other people’s products and services. You simply put a link or a banner on your page and then you get a percentage if someone clicks through and buys the product/service. You’ll want to select products that are specifically within your blog’s category. This is an effective way to earn money once you have the traffic coming to your blog.

Membership/Subscription: Allowing people to subscribe for exclusive content can make you money. Many people have created a paid membership area on their blog. This is typically for exclusive content that you can only access when you become a paid member. If you think of something valuable (newsletter, online magazine, etc.) that you can consistently offer on a certain basis (weekly, monthly, etc.), you may want to offer a subscription service. If you have a really great idea on what to include, this can be a great idea.  You’ll have to create something that can’t easily be accessed around the web, if visitors are to pay for it.

Products: You can create your own product, such as an ebook or a web app. You would then use your blog as a promotion tool to get people to buy your product. As long as you create a legitimate product with a whole lot of value, you should be able to get some buyers, but like everything else with a blog, you’ll need the traffic to make the sales.

Services: You can offer a paid service, such as life coaching, blog coaching, goal setting or financial planning. Just be sure to investigate all the legal implications and make sure you’re not claiming to be a professional if you’re not one. With a service like this, you’re basically using your blog to sell yourself. You’ll need to convince people that you’re worth buying and then be able to back up your claims once they purchase your service.

Sponsored Posts: Sponsored posts are basically just posts about a specific brand, product or service. A company will pay you to publish an article about it. You are basically selling the spot for the article on your site. If you decide to take this route, you’ll want to build your web traffic before you will get many offers.

  1. Work-At-Home

There are businesses that will hire you to work for them from your home. This could be direct or often through an intermediary (usually an online platform). There are schemes out there that purport to do this but not all of them are genuine. Some, actually are scams. If you’re interested in working for someone else, while still making your own schedule and deciding where to work from, here are a few companies recommended by Kalen Bruce that will let you do just that

  1. CrowdSource – CrowdSource offers many types of jobs from “microtask” jobs to larger writing and editing jobs. You decide how much you work and you can do most of it right at your computer.
  2. Demand Studios – Demand Studios is hiring all kinds of creative professionals, from writer to filmmakers. The pay isn’t amazing, but it’s competitive for a work-at-home job.
  3. Fast Chart – Fast Chart allows you to work from home as a medical transcriptionist. There are some requirments and qualifications listed on the page, but if you meet them, you’ll make competitive pay for the industry. You’ll also be able to set your own schedule since you’ll be working from home.
  4. Leap Force – Leap Force is one way that Google rates websites for search engine ranking. If you’re hired, you make decent money (usually over $11/hour), you set your own schedule and it can be pretty fun to view and rank websites.
  5. Liveops – Liveops is a call center that allows you to work from home. Once your set up to take the calls, you can begin making a weekly schedule and working from home. The pay is generally close to $10/hour, but you can earn more with commissions.
  6. SpeakWrite – SpeakWrite will pay you up to $15/hour to transcribe information. You set your own schedule and work from home.

Beyond specific qualifications, you’ll need a fairly stable internet, laptop, and in some cases, a serene environment.

  1. Freelance Content Writing

Freelance writing is a popular way to earn money online, without breaking a sweat. If you love a particular subject and you love writing, then all you have to do is to look for a blog that will be happy to post your articles. You can make as much as $20 per post, or even more in some cases. You’ve got to build your portfolio and your résumé, if you’re interested in writing. If you’re not interested in writing, I wouldn’t recommend traveling down this road just for the money. You wouldn’t be happy on the journey to earn money online. That said, here are websites recommended by Kalen Bruce you can start with.

  1. Listverse – Listverse pays $100 for each accepted post. The article must be a list, it must be at least 1,500 words and you must include at least 10 things. Other than that, you can get pretty creative with it.
  2. TopTenz – TopTenz pays $50 for each accepted post. Again, the article has to be in a list format and it must be at least 1,500 words, with few exceptions. They post often so your chances of getting accepted are fairly high.
  3. A List Apart – A List Apart pays $200 for each accepted post. They’re not first on the list, because they tend to publish less articles, which means you have a smaller chance of getting accepted. Same guidelines as above, 1,500 word minimum.
  4. International Living – International Living pays $75 for each accepted post. They are mostly looking for travel experiences from countries you have visited. For this site, it’s more about your experience than your writing ability.
  5. FundsforWriters – FundsforWriters pays $50 for each accepted post. They are looking for articles about writing and making money with it. They only accept articles between 500-600 words, but they want you to make each word count.
  6. Uxbooth – Uxbooth pays $100 for each accepted post. They do tend to take four to eight weeks to accept and post articles, so don’t count on this being a quick money maker. They take so long, because they pair with editors to only publish amazing content.
  7. iWriter – iWriter pays up to $15 for each accepted post. That may seem small, but they aren’t as strict as many of the others above and they also allow you to pick exactly what you write. You can write as many or as few articles as you want.
  8. Textbroker – Textbroker pays up to five cents per word, if you’re a 5-star writer. You’ll start by submitting a short sample article and you will most likely start as a 3-star writer, but you can work your way up by writing more and writing great content.
  9. Matador Network – Matador Network pays up to $60 for each accepted post, but standard pay is around $20-$25. They don’t really focus on a minimum word count, but they have a maximum count of 1,500 words.
  10. The Penny Hoarder – The Penny Hoarder pays up to $800 (rarely), depending upon the number of page views you receive. The pay starts at $100 for 50,000 page views, so this isn’t a guaranteed paid article, but it can potentially be highly rewarding.

The money making potential in freelance content writing is very enormous….big enough to make it a full-time job. However, you must understand that it is a process. You have to build a portfolio (online) and gradually move up into the big money making end. You can utilize your linkedin profile and other social media profiles to build your portfolio. If you are not an experienced writer, your journey could be longer and you should be willing to put in the effort. You’ll surely make money online in due time. Everyone can earn money online, if I do.

  1. Earn Money Online with Gigs on Fiverr

Fiverr is now the world’s largest marketplace for people to make money selling small services (known as ‘gigs’).

What you offer could be absolutely anything, from writing and translating, social media posting, playing pranks and designing, voiceovers and short video clips for people all around the world!

As the name suggests, the default price is $5 ( Fiverr ), but you can attach extra services to gigs to earn more money. Whilst it might not seem like much, it can quickly add up and there are plenty of examples of people making good living from the site. The key is to get a system in place which minimises the time spent on each gig, Owen Burek advises.

But, there is another way to earn money online (even more) from Fiverr for potentially far less work. How? By simply reselling gigs elsewhere. For example, find a decent logo designer then reply to jobs on Upwork or even local classifieds. So, simply benefitting from information (cheaper alternatives) that others are not aware of. A $5 spend can easily become $50+, and it’s repeatable!

   6. Sell Your Photos, Stories and Videos

If you think you’ve got good shots and a little creativity, try uploading your photographs for free to stock websites. A good starting point is Fotolia or istockphoto. This is to get you noticed and then get people to start sending you custom requests, for which you can start making money online quickly. You could make decent amounts at end of each month selling your photos.

If you have an interesting story then you could try selling it to blogs (and the papers). It could be anything from sleeping with a professional footballer to getting caught in a chieftaincy battle! Sale of stories is one simple way to earn money online.

The Sun is reported to have bought a story from university student for a tidy £50.

You could also film your mates at all times and send it into You’ve Been Framed to net yourself £250 and a few seconds of fame.

My Recommendation
