Greed is an intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food.

If you are being greedy, its implication is that you are hoarding something… usually at the expense of others. Is that what expanding your business is about? If you expand your business, you are creating wealth for many people, also you are providing products and services that benefit your community. Expanding your business creates a bigger economy, and subsequently more jobs. Also, through paying more taxes you also contribute to the development of the country.

Therefore the answer is an absolute no. Expanding your business is a drive for success. As a matter of fact expanding your business to increase your profit should be one of your major strategic goals. So think of it this way. Businesses can’t provide donations to charitable causes unless they make money. The more money that is made, the better the possibilities that others can be helped.

Making bigger profits means you have a more sustainable business. That’s the purpose of being in business else, your business will die (even slowly) because if you’re not growing, you’re shrinking.

Expanding your business should be motivated by the need to serve more customers. Revenue is the result not the mission. If the product offers values to customers and you are growing in a competitive category.

The only way it becomes greed is if you are using a monopoly or corruption to sell a bad product to customers. Sometimes it is not always about the money. Integrity is a value you should hold high. In as much as you want to expand your business you must not do it at the expense of your customers
