Looking for Help for Organic Rankings
I have been reading up a lot lately on how to market a website. There seems to be so many different ways to market a website, including free and paid methods. In fact, in some respects, I don’t know how other new website owners do it as there seems to be an information overload.
I have decided for now that I will look at free ways to market my new site, even though there is a Tampa pay per click firm just down the street. It may be something I look into a little farther in the future (when the site is making some money), but it really isn’t an option for me right now.
In the meantime, I have enlisted the help of a Tampa search engine optimization company to help me out. I was particularly impressed with their track record and I feel confident that they will give me the right information for my needs.
I wish my budget was a little larger for the site marketing, but my wife has told me that my budget is limited until I can prove that the site will make money. So, I will have to look at ranking in the organic search results until I am allowed to be a little more aggressive with my marketing.
Use Group Software to Track Payments
Businesses use group software for a few different reasons. They may want to keep everyone’s schedules and contact information in one place. They may wish to set up group forums to discuss important work topics. They could have a need for a place to set up and maintain a group calendar. And they may seek a simple way of tracking and processing payments. This latter reason is a particularly great reason to choose group software.
Group software can be used to track payments of all kinds. You can hold a fundraiser and track donations through your software. You can create a group of people who have to submit membership fees to you and track who has paid and who hasn’t. You can even use group software to track the sales of various products.
There are other tools that you can use to track payments, of course. So why would you choose group software? The main reason would be that you have a single group or a set of groups that you want to track payments for in one place. This is made simpler when you’re using software that’s already designed to organize and manage groups. Other financial tracking software might not make this level of organization quite as simple for you.
Don’t let stairlifts keep you from success
A growing number of business owners have indicated pressing concerns when it comes to making sure their businesses are compliant with the American Disability Act guidelines. In today’s litigious society, by not having installed stairlifts, the business at a particular location can easily be sued, and barring specific circumstances usually will lose the legal battle.
There have even been cases reported where the owners of wonderful and quaint bed and breakfast inns have been taken to court because they provide those recliner type of seating but had no lift chair recliners available for visiting guests that might need to have them.
While the last example seems a bit extreme, it may serve notice that if you run a business that provides certain amenities, those same amenities need to be available to those with disabilities, permanent or temporary.
Of course, a little common sense should also be in the employ of the average person. Unfortunately, in our world, there are an ever growing number of people that actively seek out the very worst situations and then do all they can to exploit them for their personal gain.
And those folks make it harder for everyone. Of course we all want equal rights and access for those that truly need it. Not for those that want to be given a quick buck.
Ask For Better Service Before Quitting
What should you do if one of the service providers for your business isn’t giving you the quality of service that you need? Many people choose to ignore the problem for a long time. Often, they get so sick of the issue that they impulsively decide to quit the service. This isn’t the way to handle things if you want to run your business smoothly. Instead, you should try to work with the service provider to improve the situation before things get out of control.
Let’s say that you’re having problems with the company that provides your FTP hosting. You could ignore the problem until your website really isn’t working right. After that gets too frustrating, you can switch to another host. However, this means that you’ll have to go through the hassle of transferring files and setting up a new service which can mean downtime for your website.
What if you nipped the problem in the bud instead? What if you contacted the FTP host provider early on and described the problems that you were having? There’s a good chance that you could resolve the issues and maintain the service that you’ve already started paying for. Of course, in some cases, you do need to make a switch to a better service provider but that should be a last resort instead of a first choice.
My Home Office Security System
I have a rather unique security system for my home office. One’s name is Emma, and the other’s name is Grace.
If you haven’t yet figured it out, my home office security system happens to be two dogs. Two BIG dogs. One is a mastiff mix, and the other is a white shepherd. They are very good at letting me know when someone is walking through the alley, or when the mailman is at the door.
If you work at home, I think it’s a very good policy to have a good-sized dog (or at least one that sounds good-sized) to offer some protection, not to mention distraction. A dog such as a Chesapeake Bay retriever is pretty good-sized, and their bark should be enough to deter anyone who comes poking around with intentions of doing harm.
I also have to say that having dogs is a good deterrant for those mid-day solicitations that seem to plague most of us work-at-homers. I think they must be targeting housewives, because who else would be home? But they usually don’t stay at the door long when they hear two big nasty-sounding dogs barking up a storm!
There are a lot of good reasons to have dogs, of course, but it’s just extra convenient that they make good security alarms systems for a work-at-homer!
Office Attire in Different Parts of the U.S.
If you travel a lot for business then there is something that you might have noticed. People dress differently in the office in different parts of the country. The differences are subtle but they are definitely there.
Most of the differences in dress style that you see are related to the climate where the business is located rather than the profession itself. For example, Tampa criminal lawyers and Minnesota criminal lawyers will dress differently from one another because the weather is so drastically different in these two places. The lawyers in Tampa may not wear heavy dress jackets, three-piece suits or nylons because it’s simply too hot. The weather may also affect the types of materials that people will generally wear to the office.
It is important to know that these differences exist if you travel for your job. It is also important to be aware of this if you are looking for a job in a place where you have not lived for very long or if you are looking to relocate for work. Being aware of the appropriate subtle differences in office attire will help you to fit in at the new place of business. Depending on the interviewer, it may even make a difference in whether or not you get the job at all.
3 Facts About Banff, Alberta, Canada
People who are in the business of marketing need to know facts. Specifically, they need to know how to identify important facts so that they can market based on these facts.
For example, let’s say that you were asked to market a new store opening up in Banff, Canada. You would want to know some facts about Banff. Three good facts to know might be:
1. Banff is the largest town in Banff National Park.
2. Banff is the oldest incorporated municipality located inside of a national park in Canada.
3. Banff has the highest elevation of all of Canada.
Knowing these things helps you gear your marketing. You could advertise that a new shopping option is opening up in the largest town in the area. Or you could bank on the city’s history and promote it as a cultural point of interest for visitors. Or you could impress people with the elevation of the area and point out how great this is for skiing and mountaintop views.
These things draw people to the area. Marketed correctly, they can be used to promote any new business. You have to know the facts to be able to sell people on them. As a result, marketing ends up being mostly about research.
eBay’s New Insertion Fees Policy
I just got an email from eBay the other day: Their new insertion fees policy is that you get five free ones every month, regardless of the item’s start price. Of course, this seems to be more of an effort to attract new, small-time sellers, than to benefit existing, high-volume sellers.
I personally am very excited for the new policy. I don’t sell much on eBay, but because of the high insertion fees for higher-priced items, I’ve often been forced to start auctions much lower than my comfort level in order to save money on the overall fees. This new policy will allow me to start items at higher prices when I really don’t want to sell the item for a loss, and not be out any money if it doesn’t sell at that price.
Of course, five items a month isn’t very many, but I average far less than that so it’s not a big deal to me. The main down side that might affect me is that I’m guessing they are going to increase the rest of their fees to make up for it — if not now, then later on they will, when they think we won’t notice.
Of course, there are times when it’s not worth selling something on eBay even with free insertion fees. For example, jewelry is a dime a dozen on eBay, so it can be very difficult sometimes to even get the value of the gold out of a piece of jewelry. In this case, even with the free insertion fees, you’ll probably get more money if you sell gold jewelry for cash by taking it to a pawn shop.
All in all, though, I think the new insertion fees policy is a good idea. Of course, I might be biased since I am exactly the type of seller who can benefit from it!
Activities You Should Outsource
I work from home. I work for myself. For a long time I thought that this was synonymous with working alone. However, I have realized in the past year or so that I don’t have to work alone. There is a lot of work that I can outsource to other people. This allows me to focus on the area of my work that I do best.
The first things that I started to outsource were things that I didn’t understand very well. I hired an accountant to deal with my taxes. I hired a web designer to fix up my website. Sure I could have learned these things myself. But the truth is that I don’t care that much about things like PHP scripts and dreamweaver extensions so I’d rather just outsource that work to someone else.
The other thing that I outsource is work that is tedious. Things like filing, making phone calls and calendaring the month’s events are things that take me a lot of time. They need to be done but there’s no reason I have to be the one to do them. It’s a lot more cost-effective to outsource that work. Then I can use my time to do my other tasks.
Little Ways to Escape at the Office
Being inside of your office all day can make you feel drained. Even if you love your job, you probably get that itch to get out of the office now and then. The best thing that you can do to combat this feeling is to find little ways to make yourself feel like you’re escaping the office even though you’re still there.
For example, you might choose a screensaver for your computer that is really relaxing. Pick a picture of a gorgeous Fiji resort and make it your new background. Every few hours, close out all of the other screens on your computer and just absorb the image of the resort. Daydream about what you would do if you were there. It’s not quite the same as going on vacation but it provides a nice little break for your day.
There are a bunch of different things like this that you can do to get a mini-escape on a daily basis. Pay attention to your senses to figure out what those things are. Scented candles at your desk, textured fabrics on your computer chair and a short break to eat some great fresh fruit are some examples. Brainstorm as many as you can and get away from your office this way often!
