LEED Certification for Businesses
You might have heard that getting your LEED certification can help your commercial real estate business. It’s true — LEED certification reassures your tenants that by leasing from you, they are doing their part to try to help the environment.
For instance, it isn’t uncommon for businesses to look for commercial space with solar in San Diego. Especially in areas of the country that are more liberal and environmentally aware (such as California), solar electric can be a major selling point when leasing out commercial or office space.
If you are interested in pursuing your LEED certification, you would be wise to check with a LEED pro on what needs to be done. Installing solar energy is always a good investment, as it enables you to power your building (and your tenants to run their computers and equipment) completely guilt-free, since you are not contributing to the pollution of the environment. Renovating the building to be more energy efficient, with better insulation and more energy efficient equipment or appliances, is also a plus.
Having your LEED certification demonstrates that you are committed to protecting the environment, which — in many areas — practically makes your building sell itself!

Going LEED Certified will always look good, but the investment will not always pay for itself. It really depends on the points you go for and your local climate.
LEED Certification certainly sounds like a goof investment for the future. With more and more business’s going green, building owners who attain LEED certification can certainly use it as a selling point. The more business’s who start using green energy successfully will inspire both clients and potential customers to use green energy.
