Important Things to Know About Your Customers
When you run a business, you should get to know your customers. If you run a small business then you may get to know them personally. If you run a large business then you will simply get to know them by collecting information about them.
Some of the information on customer demographics that you would want to collect might include:
- Age. You want to get an idea of the average age of your customers. This helps you figure out how to market to your customers. It also helps you see which customers you’re not getting so you might create new services to offer to them.
- Gender. Are your customers male or female? Do you want to try to get more customers of the opposite gender? You have to know what you’re dealing with.
- Marital status. This one is complicated these days. People may live together for years without getting married. People define marriages differently. However, it may help for some businesses to have a general idea of whether their customers are married or single.
These are just examples of things that you might want to know about your customers. Knowing these things helps you to better serve them. It also helps you to see ways of marketing to reach a bigger demographic.

I always talk to my customers. That way, I get to know more about them and I can use that information to create specific marketing ideas for them to keep coming back.
I try to talk to all the people coming to my business. And I pay attention to whose coming in more and whos coming in less. That why I can create specific marketing strategies to make those coming less come more often.
Those are the categories that I use to analyze my customers, too. It’s a little tedious gathering all the information but it’s worth it in the end.
I run a small business so its easy for me to gather information on my customers. I then use these to create promos and make sure they remain loyal.
I gather these and more information about my customers. It helps me figure out a way to take better care of them when they’re in my store.

Knowing the age is very important because it helps you create better products and services for that demographic, especially when you realize they’re actually your target market.
